How do I stop my Hose Clamps from rusting?

When using hose clamps, remember this – the Australian Stainless Steel Development Association recommends using 316 Grade Stainless Steel within 5 kilometres (km) of the coast. So if you are Coastal, or fixing hoses on boats – then why would you use 304 Grade Stainless Steel Hose Clips which often have parts which are 303 Grade Stainless Steel and of even lower corrosion resistance than 304. If you are anywhere near salt-water or coastal at all, 316 Grade Hose Clips are the only way to go to prevent Tea-staining.

What are Stainless Steel Cable Ties?

Stainless Steel Cable Ties are the answer. They have been around for ages in light duty nylon but you can now also get them in Stainless Steel (304 and 316 grade). With internal bearings you can just pull them tight by hand or use the Cable Tie Tool to tighten and trim any tail.
